4 And the mixt multitude that was among them fell a lusting: and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat?The Israelites mouths are now watering at the thoughts of the food they got in Egypt. Above all they say they got it *freely*.
5 We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlick:
6 But now our soul is dried away: there is nothing at all, beside this manna, before our eyes.
Freely!! Hmmm, I think they sold themselves for that food. That food, costed them their freedom - the cost of bondage. It also also costed them the penalty of death, the absence of the presence of God. The very same thing that Christ felt on the cross when sin was in Him - (Mark 15:34) "Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?"
Ok, now tell me do you still love that food. Lord, I pray that we love you, make in us a Lord - a craving for your presence. Thank You for answering even before I prayed. - Amen.
